DR B R AMBEDKAR OPEN UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD

The Andhra Pradesh Open University was established in August, 1982 by Act of the State Legislature. The University was renamed as "Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University" on 24 October 1991 after the Architect of the Indian Constitution Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on the occasion of his Birth Centenary. The University functions through a network of 117 Study Centers located in the twin-cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and all the districts of the State. The main aim of the University is to provide equality of educational opportunity for as large a segment of population as possible including all adults who wish to upgrade their education or acquire knowledge in various fields through distance education whether employed or not, and particularly including housewives and other women.

The University offers a wide range of subjects and programs of studies. The main programs of studies are Bachelor's Degrees in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Library and Information Science
